The AGM for the Trust has been set for Wednesday 9th December through online technology, at 7:30pm.
Attached to this article are the invitation letter with details and the agenda.
The Cards Trust will be selling downloadable programmes for the coming season on the Trust website as physical programmes will not be available at the ground. This reduces the chances of virus transmission and will eliminate the need to have people selling them and the cash handling.
The programme for the Pre-Season Friendly v Dorking Wanderers is now available from the new Trust web shop. If you run into any issues with your purchase, contact email@example.com.
We have been asked about printed copies. We can get the price down a bit if we can get a number of people that would want a printed copy, but we’d need a paid commitment up front as the club and the Trust cannot risk not selling them. We’re just exploring possibilities at the moment, but we think that if we could get a reasonable number of people to commit to ‘season tickets’ for all league programmes in the season, we could get the price down to around £5.00 collected, £7.00 posted. That means a commitment of £115 or £161. We would expect refunds would be given if the season wasn’t completed. If you might be interested in signing up for all of them, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. If there is enough interest, we’ll try to get it done. There is no need to commit to buy electronic ones – they can be bought any time.
We are planning to make programmes from the 2019/20 season available too – watch this space!
Depending on the government’s decision on stadia at our level re-opening to fans in October, when Woking should have their first home match of the season on Saturday 3rd October against Solihull Moors, we are currently working on the basis that fans will be able to attend, albeit in limited numbers.
Whilst all of us are awaiting the further government guidance, we at Woking Football Club need to plan this in the context of being COVID safe, and now we need to ask supporters whether they can help us achieve this on match days at The Laithwaite Community Stadium.
There will be various opportunities for fans to volunteer and offer their help – this will allow a limited number of fans to be able to access the match as a thank you for their commitment to the club.
Whilst we are finalising the arrangements, some of the tasks we are likely to need fans to help with include temperature checks, ticket scanning, general marshalling within the ground, assistance with setting up and removing barriers, and general duties. Volunteers are likely to be required from 1pm on Saturdays and 6pm for evening matches (times TBC). The commitment would only be up until kick-off, at half-time, and potentially after the match there may be some help needed with marshalling for a short period.
If you feel that you can commit to helping the club either on a Saturday or Tuesday on a regular basis with any of these tasks please contact Rupert Phillips at email@example.com no later than Wednesday 23rd September, thank you.
Your help will enable us to get through this season together, the Cards Trust is committed to supporting the Board to help make this happen.
Chairman Rosemary Johnson and manager Alan Dowson recently posted a video answering fans’ questions about the new season. If you have questions, it’s worth a look!
After nearly seven years, Ian Nicholson is standing down from his position as the Trust representative on the Club’s board to focus more of his time on his chaplaincy and the Club’s community reach. The Cards Trust has appointed George Burnett, the Trust Secretary, as an interim representative onto the Club Board until such time as a formal replacement can be elected at a Cards Trust AGM.
Rosemary Johnson, Chairman of Woking FC, commented on Ian’s time as a Director
“Ian’s enthusiasm for the club, working with the community, sorting out communications and his chaplaincy have been invaluable to the work that the club does. Ian is clear his support for Woking Football Club will continue but after seven years feels that he needs to reshape his role within the club. I am very grateful for all his support and wise counsel and know that he will always be there when I need his wisdom”.
The Club has also appointed a new head of finance for the club, Sean Carey, who has been very involved with football through his work with Abbey Rangers. The change follows the stepping down of Peter Velati after several years of service.
The volunteer team that puts together the matchday programmes for the Cards has been rewarded for its efforts by winning the ‘Programme of the Year’ award for the National League from ‘Programme Monthly’ who called the programme ‘Outstanding’ and awarded 17 points out of a maximum of 20. Thanks to all of them for their efforts!
The win also gained the club some additional coverage in the Sports section of the News & Mail.
If you have some spare time there are many task to undertake at the Laithwaite Community Stadium please contact Dave.Curtis@wokingfc.co.uk and offer your help. Some have already done work and been rewarded with a barbeque! The barbeque was kindly sponsored by Prince & Sons Butchers and Boz’s Fruit & Veg.
We hope you are keeping well in the current difficult circumstances and we look forward to the time when we can resume normal football games. It is the time of year for us to ask you if you would kindly renew your membership.
In view of the current circumstances, the easiest way to renew would be for you to use our website http://www.cardstrust.co.uk/. Your account has already been set up so you will need to login, which may mean updating the password if you haven’t done that yet. If you have any problems with this, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can pay either by Paypal or by using your credit card (Paypal acts as the processor for the credit card). You can also choose to make an automatic renewal via Paypal/Credit Card, which is a convenient alternative to starting a Standing Order, as this saves you time each year and saves us administration, we hope that you will be able to use this method of payment!
If you prefer to pay by cheque or cash, please download the application form, complete it and return it to us at the above address with your remittance and a stamped addressed envelope, so we can forward to you our confirmation of receipt and your new membership card. Postage costs are a significant part of our expenses, so we really appreciate your assistance in helping us keep these costs down, and thus provide more funds to Woking F.C.
We are pleased to confirm that this year’s membership fees are the same as last year.
Trust members can receive 10% discount in the Club Shop for clothing on production of their valid membership card, but please note that this discount does not apply to online sales. We have undertaken a major revamp to our website, so to keep up with Cards Trust news and events please check out our site at http://www.cardstrust.co.uk/
