Well, this has been a mixed week, with the disappointment of the England match, but with the excitement of the build-up to the match this evening vs WBA, who are sending their first team squad to Kingfield (including Saul Shotton). As Alan Barnes has said, "We've always beaten them".
There's lots of excitement too, about the switch to a full time squad and with the quality of the players that have so far been recruited, including returning Woking favourites, Inih Effiong and Joe McNerney.
At tonight's match there will a food and cash collection, or you can go to the JustGiving page. The collection is on behalf of ABBM which has been helping single parents and homeless families. Dowse has encouraged generosity and was due to make 50 laps of the pitch today to help! If you haven't already got your ticket, there is a live stream with 50% of the proceeds going to the charity. There should be a great atmosphere at the Laithwaite this evening as more than 500 WBA fans are expected!
Sadly, because of Covid regulations, we will not be selling programmes at the match, but the pre-season friendly programme will be on sale at the later games - in a printed format for those that like it that way!
Saturday 24th July will see the Cards travelling all the way to Sheerwater for a friendly match to continue the well established relationship between the clubs.
On Sunday 27th July there is a charity Celebrity match for which a lot of tickets have already been sold. The match is in add of the Sam Beare & Woking Hospice, Cherry Trees, the Emily Ash charity and Halos. It should be a fun event and both Dowse and Martin Tyler have promised (or threatened!) to come onto the pitch for at least five minutes. There will be a number of players and celebrities from TV, music and social media. It shouid be a fun family event!
