Put the 8th of May in your diary. That's the day that we'll be celebrating with the club and associated organisations the 100th Birthday of the move to the Kingfield stadium. The Trust will have a table there to answer queries about membership, away travel, Junior Cards, the 400 Club and much more.
For the 100th Anniversary weekend we are producing a bumper commemorative programme and would like to have a page or two where we can gather some of your great Kingfield memories. So, complete the phrase ‘My greatest Kingfield memory is ……’ in just a sentence or two and email to programme@wokingfc.co.uk. We will put responses in the programme. We want all eras, even those stretching back to the 40’s and 50’s. Oh, and please remember it’s a family programme!
... and talking of programmes, he club has a great collection of programmes in the store at the KRE end of the Chris Lane Terrace.
We have the store manned in case you want to buy an old programme, at a match. However, we think that in these days of eBay and other ways of connecting with collectors, there is a real chance to make the collection more widely available. If you might be interested in helping with this, please get in touch with me. (programme@wokingfc.co.uk), and I'm probably going to be selling Goldrush tickets in front of the LGS on Friday.
.... and talking of Goldrush, the prize of £426.50 from the game against Solihull Moors on 26 March hasn't been claimed yet. The winning number was 01039 so if anyone has this ticket, please come along to the Trust office at Friday's game and collect your winnings or if you can't get there contact George.burnett@cardstrust.co.uk
400 Club
John Hooker has summarised what is happening with the 400 Club.
"Nearly seven years ago when we set up ‘The Cards Trust 400 Club’ , it was so called as we had and have nearly 400 members of the Cards Trust.
30% or the ‘Trust’ members are also members of the ‘400 Club’ so we have plenty of spaces!!
Since its inception in 2016, the ‘400 Club’ has paid out £9,400 in prize money. The ‘Club’ has paid for training ground goal posts, the pitch sprayer and a fertiliser machine and for a Torquay game, the teams accommodation. We are also about to pay for two sets of goals, they are needed to avoid the goalkeeper areas not being damaged so both sets of teams can warm up properly on match days in a separate area.
In total we have, or will have, supported the Club to the tune of C £20,000.
We have recently increased ‘’draws’ from quarterly to bi-monthly and if we can gain more members or if existing members took up more numbers we would hope to increase the draw frequencies or prize monies or maybe both!
Membership costs just £12 and that enters you into the six draws plus the big £500 prize at Christmas.
The next draw for 2022 will take place in just three weeks-time.
The first number to be drawn will win £100, the 2nd £75 and the 3rd £50. Full details are on the enclosed document."
Also, there is still time to vote for the Player of the Month - see the article below.
